Stefan Maneval is currently a visiting professor of Islamic and Middle East Studies at Freie Universität Berlin. Until 2021 he was a research fellow at Martin Luther University Halle-Wittenberg, where he conducted research on religious diversity and collective identities in Lebanon. His research areas include material and visual culture, gender studies, collective identities, the public sphere in Muslim societies, as well as contemporary discourse on Islam in Europe. His most recent publications include Forms of Migration: Global Perspectives on Im/migrant Art and Literature (ed. with Jennifer A. Reimer, 2022) and Faith Travels by Streetcar: Norms and Objects in Religious and Secular Contexts (2021).
