On Tuesday, 27 May, 2-4pm, we shall have Prof. Issa Ziddy (Religious Studies, State University of Zanzibar, SUZA)as a visiting speaker at BGSMCS grad school, presenting a talk on his research on 'Transmission of Islamic learning in Zanzibar, 19th-20th century'.
The talk will take place in the seminar room in Hittorfstrasse 18.

Prof. Ziddy is visiting FU-Berlin through the ErasmusPlus university exchange program.
He will be available for a meet and greet event the day after, on Wed. 28 May at BGSMCS (library), with possibilities to arrange individual consultations during the period of his stay (till 6 June) for any interested MA and PhD students as well as postdocs.
And he will give a talk at ZMO (on his research on local regional biographies of sheikhs) on Thursday, 5 June, 1pm.
He has worked and published on Islam in East Africa, particularly Tanzania and Zanzibar; on human rights, gender roles, and Muslim women, also and particularly from a legal perspective.
