Research Manager | Strategist | Bridge-builder

I have been working in research management for over twenty years. I have been particularly shaped by my role in setting up and managing an international fellowship programme "re:work" (Käte Hamburger Kolleg), as well as by my experience in international collaboration and research funding. Today, I am the managing director of the Berlin Graduate School of Muslim Cultures and Societies at the Freie Universität Berlin.

What I find particularly appealing about my work is the opportunity to apply my experience in research management, collaboration and institutional development within an environment that uniquely combines research and social innovation.

My research and publications are situated in the fields of global labour history, NS history and memory cultures. My doctoral thesis (2001) deals with democratisation as an objective of American occupation policy in Germany and Japan, 1943–1947.
