A panel discussion jointly organised by the Heinrich Böll Stiftung, the Institute of Philosophy, Freie Universität Berlin, and the BGSMCS.
Two Iranian philosophers will analyse both, appropriations of Western philosophical discourses in Iran as well as the problem of Eurocentrism in Western Philosophy. Hossein Mesbahian (PhD Philosophy of Education, University of Toronto, currently Assistant Professor of Philosophy Universität Teheran) examines the question whether the term 'Modernity' is bound to a specific cultural context and at the same time questions its implicitly Eurocentric claim to Universality. Meysam Sefidkhosh (PhD Philosophy Shabid Beheshti University, Teheran; Assistant Professor of Philosophy and Theology at Beheshti Univeristy) critically inquires into the phenomenon of narration in philosophical discourses of modernity in Iran, drawing in the Example of Hegel reception.
