First Event of the Second Annual Lecture Series of the Berlin Graduate School Muslim Cultures and Societies
Slavs and Tatars
Slavs and Tatars is a faction of polemics and intimacies devoted to an area east of the former Berlin Wall and west of the Great Wall of China, a region known as Eurasia. The collective’s work spans several media, disciplines, and a broad spectrum of cultural registers (high and low) focusing on an oft-forgotten sphere of influence involving Slavs, Caucasians, and central Asians. They have exhibited in major institutions across the Middle East, Europe and North America, including the Tate Modern, the Centre Pompidou, and the 10th Sharjah, 8th Berlin, 3rd Thessaloniki, and 9th Gwangju Biennials.
