How to access the FU network folders remotely

1. Connect to the FU network

  • If you want to access the network folders from home, from another university or from anywhere else, connect to the "vpn.fu-berlin.de" server with your student account and password, using the Cisco AnyConnect VPN client (further information (only in German): VPN für Mac OS X | VPN für Windows).


2. Connect network drives

  • Mac OS X:
    Open "Finder". Select the dropdown menu "Go" and click on "Connect to Server".
    Enter one of the following three server addresses:

    1. smb://datastore.fu-berlin.de/BGSMCS/   (for access to the "SHARE-ALL" folder)
    2. smb://user.fu-berlin.de/HOME/   (for access to your personal folder)
    3. smb://web01.campus.fu-berlin.de/SCAN/   (for access to the "SCAN" folder)

    Connect with your student account, followed by @fu-berlin.de, and your password.

  • Windows:
    Open the "Explorer". Click on the "Computer" icon or on the "This PC" icon (Windows 8.1). Then click on "Map network drive".
    Enter one of the following server addresses:

    1. \\datastore.fu-berlin.de\BGSMCS\   (for access to the "SHARE-ALL" folder)
    2. \\user.fu-berlin.de\HOME\   (for access to your personal folder)
    3. \\web01.campus.fu-berlin.de\SCAN\   (for access to the "SCAN" folder)

    Connect with your student account, followed by @fu-berlin.de, and your password.
