The event will be moderated by Dina El-Sharnouby.
In conversation with Asef Bayat, members of Mayadin Al-Tahrir will discuss the meaning of revolutions in light of the Arab uprisings, and critically question whether the concept of “revolution” itself needs an overhaul in order to better understand the mass mobilizations and revolts of the 21st century.
Asef Bayat is a professor in the Department of Sociology at the University of Illinois. He is widely published on issues related to revolution, Islamism, and youth in the Arab. He is currently a fellow of the Wissenschaftskolleg in Berlin.
